How INDEPTH Gets the Job Done

We realize every client and every situation is unique, and we work hard to find the solution that is brought with efficiency and at a cost-effective price.

Step 1: Low-Impact Arrival & Site Assessment –
We arrive quickly with right-sized equipment that fits through your existing gates. We evaluate the property to ensure we stay at least 100 feet away from wells and surface water, protecting your property’s water table while minimizing footprint.

Step 2: Precision Deep-Trench Excavation –
Using our branded, well-maintained mini-excavators, we dig a deep, secure vertical trench (often 6-8 feet deep). This ensures the remains are placed well below the frost line and covered by significantly more than the required three feet of compacted soil, preventing scavenging and sinkholes.

Step 3: Level-Grade Restoration –
The job isn’t done until your pasture is safe again. We carefully backfill and grade the soil, leaving the site level and ready for natural reseeding. This ensures the area remains safe for the rest of your herd to walk over without risk of injury.

FAQ

Proper burial is required by Washington State law within 72 hours of an animal’s death. Professional excavation ensures the site is deep enough (6-8 feet) to prevent scavenging and far enough from water sources to prevent environmental contamination.

Per WAC 246-203-121, every part of the carcass must be covered by at least three feet of soil. The burial site must be at least 100 feet from wells, springs, and streams, and located outside of flood plains.

No. We use rubber-tracked mini-excavators specifically designed for residential and farm work. They are light enough to protect your turf and small enough to fit through standard farm gates, avoiding the need to remove fencing.

After the burial, we backfill the trench and use the excavator’s blade to level and grade the soil. This prevents the area from becoming a low-point, a “mound,” or a hazard for other livestock to trip over.

While the law requires 3 feet of cover, we typically dig 6 to 8 feet deep to ensure maximum safety, faster decomposition, and to prevent any future property issues.
